Each year, October brings colorful leaves and cool nights. It also brings United Nations Day, a special celebration at MCH. The UN is an organization that was founded after World War II with goals including the formation of international law, economic progress and world peace. Here at MCH, we study various cultures with our students in the hope that by exposing our young children to the world’s people, they learn to be global citizens. Developing an interest, respect and tolerance for other cultures is an integral part of the Montessori curriculum. United Nations Day is always a day that highlights the importance of Maria Montessori’s words, “Establishing lasting peace is the work of education.”
